If you want to attract all ages – have a fully mobile event and also a great guy then the 7 seater is for you. We have been representing the 7 seater for a number of years and we wanted to share the inspiration and the people behind the driving seat of the business.
Mike, the co-founder of the business chats to us and tells us a little bit about his history. Sadly his dear father Doug lost his battle to cancer just after Covid but we have many fond memories of working with him.
So Mike – how did the concept for the driving simulator come about?
My dad originally saw a concept and thought it looked cool. He was always into motorsport, and so was I—I raced when I was younger and won a Winter Series at the age of 15/16.
Where did your dad’s passion for motorsport begin?
Some of my earliest memories are of him building and racing remote-controlled Tamiya cars. He loved it so much that he turned it into a business, hiring fields and hosting public events. That was where is started and then years later the concept got a lot bigger.
How did that evolve into the 7-seater simulator?
That love of cars just kept growing, and eventually we developed the 7-seater racing simulator, which is still operating today.
What went into building the simulator itself?
It took about seven months for me to find the right vehicle. It was originally a mobile camping shop, which we completely stripped out and rebuilt to develop the product you see today.
What was the first event like?
Our very first booking was the Le Mans 24 Hour Race in France, so it was a long journey for its debut—by freight train and then beyond. It was a big start, but an unforgettable one.
Where has the simulator been over the years?
We’ve worked at some incredible venues including Silverstone, Thruxton, Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Donington Park, and events such as World Superbikes. It’s been a brilliant 10 years.
Did your previous experience help with the business?
Definitely. I had a background in logistics, route planning, and haulage, which was a natural fit—especially as the simulator vehicle is 7.5 tonnes.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Motor racing is still a huge passion. I used to do a lot of racing and track days in BMWs, Formula Fords, and Audi TTs, mainly at Brands Hatch. I’ve also loved spending time with people through running yacht charters in Florida and Thailand, which really helped develop my people skills.
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting people, visiting different locations, and seeing different views every day. No two events are the same, and that variety makes all the difference.
What’s been the most unusual job so far?
Hosting the stunt drivers from the Fast & Furious films was definitely a standout moment—they came on board and spent time on the simulator.
How has it been working with Events Inc?
We’ve absolutely loved working with Events Inc and have really enjoyed visiting so many holiday parks through that partnership.
